Gone - Firday

I want to start by saying I don't usually make this type of music. However, as a creative who's keen to explore new music, I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I was inspired by the sounds of Fontaines D.C. and Jockstrap, aiming to merge the two together to create something both exciting and euphoric. I began with a simple acoustic piano composition which grows more complex as the song progresses in order to build tension. By layering in some synthesised vocals I was able to create a modern, atmospheric feel before the energy really picks up. The guitar riffs create a mellow and stark contrast to the intro of the song, like a weight is being lifted off the listener's shoulders. Finally I included  live drum sounds to encase the other elements of the song. Considering this is the first  attempt in  creating this type of sound, I'm please with outcome and overall result.

Rebirth - Firday, Grünerwald

I've been wanting to create an ambient track since being introduced to the genre by Swedish producer, Grünerwald. We connected through social media and discussed  music production, shared feedback and collaborated on various projects. Before laying anything down, I created a scene in my mind of leaving earth for the final time after it becomes uninhabitable, to build a new civilisation elsewhere. The dark piano creates that feeling of loss, whilst the strings add dramatic undertones, representing the unknown. The higher frequencies symbolise hope, and the bass works as a foundation for the rest of the instrumentation to build on. After I had established the track, I sent it to Grünerwald for mixing, where he fine-tuned each instrument, adding dynamics in order to create a progressive, interesting sound. This is also my first release on streaming services.

Double Cup - Firday

Had a great time making this, I feel like I'm really starting to find my sound when it comes to trap beats. I wanted to make something chaotic, yet melodic,  inspired by the synths in Poker Face by Lady Gaga and rage  style 808s, used by the likes of Wegonebeok and Legion. The combination of the two creates a grinding, almost overpowering low end and punchy mids. However, the track didn't sound full, so I found a lead that could sit atop of the mix, emulating the production that might be found in a Bladee or Prettifun beat. To add further depth, I layered a pad with the 808, sidechaining it to the kick to make it more prominent and add air to the bass.

Word - Firday

For this track I tested how far I could take a couple of piano sounds and a violin. This was inspired by similar songs from Jackzebra, hence the sample at the beginning which I included from one of his Instagram lives. Overall, I wanted to create a somewhat unique sounding snare and clap pattern despite maintaining the trap feel. The small breaks in percussion, leaving the 808s to take centre stage, builds tension for the next bar to resume and flow into that more manic state. Having heard

è®¤çœŸä½ å°±è¾“了 by Jackzebra I think his vocals would really complement the overall sound, so have contacted him on socials. Watch this space for a collaboration.

Swop - firday

During research for my first beat of 2025, I  heard the song Killa, by Skinny Pimp & Lil Sko & Lil Gin, which is commonly sampled in hardstyle or phonk songs. I saw potential for something completely different, a contemporary hip-hop  beat with elements of jerk. I began by laying the drums over the sample to create something snappy and unique, while maintaining a light bounce. I then added a repetitive piano melody to complement the vocal sample and designed LFO's to create the synth sound, adding  excitement and tension. Feeling that it lacked energy, I added  abrupt, anthem type brass sounds. Finally, I  chopped  the sample to incorporate a variation between choruses, inserting a glass break impact to add further  emphasis when the drums hit.
